Netbooks are becoming very popular these days as more and more companies are starting to manufacture them. That’s a very good thing as it will increase healthy competition, decrease the price and give a lot of choice to the consumers. Acer, the third largest PC manufacturer in the world has launched Aspire One - there very first netbook device for the Indian Market.

The Aspire One is a stylish, portable and very sleek device. Design wise, the Aspire One comes across as a unit that appears to be well designed. The Aspire One comes equipped with Intel Atom N270 processor 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM and a choice between Linpus Linux Lite or Windows XP Home edition. It also has a beautiful 8.9-inch backlit LED panel with a resolution of 1024×600. It comes with 120 GB HDD. The base model of Aspire One offers only a 3-cell battery but you can get a 6-cell battery that increases available battery life to 5.5 hours by paying an amount of Rs 1200. It also makes it possible to carry a spare cell hence increasing the battery life by another 5 hours as the battery is user replaceable.It weighs just under 1 Kg.

It has a memory card reader that will handle SDHC, MMC, MS/PRO and xD. This is joined by two USB 2.0 ports, headphone and microphone jacks and like on most netbooks you’ll also find a Kensington lock point. Unfortunately it does not have BlueTooth and Wifi functionality.

It is available in five trendy colors of Sapphire Blue, Coral Pink, Golden Brown, Seashell White and Black. The Windows XP version is available for Rs 21,999 and Linux version is available for Rs 19,999.
