When Android first debuted, there was talk about how great it would be on a netbook. Then a couple of companies mentioned that they were planning on shipping a netbook with Android inside, but we haven’t really heard much more on the subject lately. Now we have word of the Acer Aspire One D250 Android, which not only boots Android, but also dual-boots XP.
Unfortunately, as of this writing the Android OS implementation on the Acer is a far from solid. A review over at eprice.com mentions that it lacks the Android Market, and doesn’t seem to offer any other way of getting Apps into the OS. That said, shutdowns and boot ups are pretty fast, so for now the OS does seem to be performing well as an OS.
The Acer Aspire One D250 Android seems to be a pre-production model right now, so hopefully some of the above issues will be worked out when it finally ships–if it ships.
